Selid is a musical centre, run by Inga Ásta and Pétur Hafstein who live at Stokkalaekur. Primarily, Selid was established in 2009 to provide young Icelandic musicians in the field of classical music with an inspiring and tranquil environment, ideal for creative and artistic work as well as being a beautiful performance setting. The facility also serves the purpose of enriching the culture scene in the enchanting county of Rangárthing. Selid can also be leased to groups for other occasions. In general, Selid is operated as here listed:
1. Some invitations to stay at Selid will be offered as grants to those who intend to organize and plan seminars, workshops and master classes. Such grants will also be made available to young musicians starting their professional careers for the purpose of rehearsing and giving recitals.
2. Selid is open to other musicians for rehearsals, concerts or recording sessions for a very reasonable fee.
3. People who are interested in enjoying the unique surroundings of Selid and its nearby attractions can rent the facility at a standard rate. It can only be leased to one party at a time and does not include meals, although the modern and fully equipped kitchen is open for general use to its guests. Restaurants in the region also offer meal delivery. |
